Straight Line Editorial Development

Writing and Editing

The majority of our work involves helping publishers both large and small develop new programs or revise existing ones.

The types of components we have created include student books, ancillaries, teacher's guides, activity cards, practice masters, intervention programs, English Learner support materials, on-line activities, test prep booklets and other assessment materials, skill lessons, leveled readers, and vocabulary cards.

For more than 20 years, we have provided consistently high quality materials and a level of service many of our clients tell us is unsurpassed. We attribute our success and strong reputation to the way in which we approach our work:

  • We listen carefully to what publishers want, and work hard to deliver manuscript that fulfills all of the requirements educational materials must meet.
  • We maintain a permanent staff of talented, energetic, knowledgeable individuals.
  • We only take on as much work as we can reasonably handle.
  • We do not release manuscript until it has been carefully edited, reviewed, and revised.
  • We draw from a carefully selected pool of experienced, talented freelance writers.
  • We stay in touch with our audience—kids. Many of us regularly spend time as tutors in elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms and learning support programs, which gives us an accurate feel for what today’s students like, are interested in, and can do.
